RV Having Fun Yet???
Summer is here and it is awesome to see many familiar faces and new ones too. We have certainly been busy since the last newsletter, and we recently had our first ‘Member Build’ of the season, and what a great turn-out we had. The plan was to build a dock-type extension to the existing Gazebo by the pond connecting to a ‘floating dock.’ As with many other plans, things do not necessarily pan out per se, but nevertheless much is accomplished and indeed we did accomplish much. Delivery of the dock materials did not arrive as we had hoped, yet we did have the materials on hand for the extension from Gazebo to edge of the pond as well as giving the existing bridge a nice coat of paint. We must express my deepest thanks to, and in no order, Wanda and Dave Scheeler, Rita Osbourne, Robert, and Robin Scott, Linda and Rick, Kenny and Latisha Bowers, Jairo Lovo, John Alexander, Jacob Love, Albert and Christine, and Brandon Buckingham, Roger, and Liz Armiger, plus sure there are more who contributed and not list name. They all worked thru what was a HOT and Humid day. What really makes this so special was the dock materials arrived the Monday after the Member Build and unbelievably, some of those who were working over the weekend decided to ‘chip’ in over the next few days after to make sure the floating dock was installed. We are proud to say the members of Gettysburg ROCKS!
Another big thanks go to Ron Miles and Bill Willders, for installing the new fountain that just arrived a few days ago, what a beautiful sight and we are sure the aquatic wildlife appreciates the aeration. Beautiful to see at night too as this has lights.
So, if you have not been to the resort lately, I am sure you will see we been busy, both the Team and Members alike.
Until next time,
Richard and Lisa
What a great summer we have had so far! Prom was so much fun! Our member-built floating dock with accompanying fountain has made a dramatic difference for the pond! Our County Fair was a huge hit – kids loved visiting the farm animals, everyone loved the funnel cake, and the dunk tank was a huge hit. Better yet – donations to the dunk tank, funnel cake and our cake auction raised over $550 for the Adams County Animal Shelter!!! We know July will be loaded with just as much fun for all! It begins with a weekend full of activities celebrating July 4th, including patriotic themed crafts, a pie-eating contest, family relay games, and a concert by Radio Bravo! The second week in July is Bike Week here in Gettysburg! We will be having our annual tattoo contest, a bike parade and a concert by resort favorite, Marshall Stone! Following Bike Week is our Butterfly and Buzzers Weekend when we will put in the final changes of our first Junior Member Build – our pollinator garden! Then get ready for the very first GBR Wine and Cheese Festival! We will be hosting a special wine tasting by Bouchette Vineyards and special smoked cheeses will be available from the Smokehaus! Finally, we end July and begin August with Beach Week!
