Greetings from Gettysburg Battlefield Resort
February is here and normalcy this time of year is chilly weather along with the snow.
Well, we already had one significant snowfall and hopefully, that will be all we get. The weather has not been too “shabby,” and Mother Nature has been quite cooperative. Despite the weather, the Team has been working tirelessly to make as many improvements as possible before season is into full swing. What is next you might be asking? The new Shuffleboard Court is laid out, with the final changes of pavers at each end is near completion. In last month’s newsletter, we mentioned electrical upgrades for sites near the pond area. I am pleased to mention we have already ordered wiring and new pedestals. The plan is to upgrade 15 sites to accommodate 50 amp electric along with the 30 amp.
In closing, I am sure many will be pleased and if you have been here a good bit, you know we strive to make this resort better as time progresses
Until next time,
Happy Camping from Richard and Lisa
Note from Manager: “At the time of this article being submitted, Richard may have spoken too soon as to how the weather has been cooperating”
We are so excited to move from the “let’s bounce ideas around” stage of planning for the 2021 season to having an official calendar of themed weekends! While we have brought back many of your favorite weekends, we cannot wait to highlight some brand-new ones, all of which are designed to provide lots of fun for everyone! In April, we will be celebrating Earth Day by beginning a butterfly garden that will be an ongoing project for members throughout the year. In May, we will be celebrating the Heavenly 70’s, so dig up your bell-bottoms and tie-dye shirts for a 70’s fashion show, participate in the hacky-sack contest and make room for your new pet rock! Then come to hear LODI, a CCR cover band who is AMAZING! In June, it’s a weekend celebrating car racing! You have just enough time to practice for the Pit Crew Contest, and to decorate your gold cart or bike to honor your favorite team or driver for the GBR 500 Parade! In July, look for our very first Wine and Cheese Festival! Not only will there be a tasting party, but some great classes on how to incorporate wine and smoked cheeses into meals you can make at your campsite! In August, all of the TRA resorts will be having a FUNraising Weekend to support local charities. At GBR, we will be having our very first Renaissance Fair! In September, we are having our very first WWII Living History Weekend!
We will be announcing several new committees for some of our events, like Prom, the Renaissance Fair, and the WWII Living History Weekend, and would love members to participate. Please contact us at [email protected] if you would like to help with any of our events, or know any entertainers or reenactors who could help with these events!
